LA PLATA, Maryland — Thales Group’s space business, run mainly through Thales Alenia Space and Telespazio, continued its recovery in the three months ending June 30, with increases in both sales and profit, despite a customer’s cancellation of two geostationary-orbit telecommunications satellites.
Satellite fleet operator SES in May cancelled the IS-41 and IS44 satellites, both designed with Thales Alenia Space’s SpaceInspire software-defined platform, in May, a decision that reduced Thales sales by 153 million euros ($174.5 million).
