BREMEN, Germany — A large Spanish investment into the European Space Agency’s planned multi-sensor constellation of observation satellites has made it possible for the program to begin as planned in 2026, according to government and industry officials.
With its contribution of 325 million euros ($376.4 million), Spain will become by far the largest investor in ESA’s ERS-EO program, which is designed as a precursor to a future European Union constellation of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance satellites called Earth Observation Governmental Service (EOGS).
