TUPPER LAKE, NY— The Canadian Defence Investment Agency (DIA) order for 69 additional Telesat Lightspeed Ka-band satellites’ Arctic coverage is part of a $1.9-billion service contract of which $1.5 billion will be paid between 2026 and 2028, followed by $400 million in annual payments through 2043.
The contract, announced Aug. 4, is part of Canada’s long-planned Enhanced Satellite Communications Project-Polar, ESC-P, and triggered a Telesat contract with Lightspeed prime contractor MDA Space to increase the existing MDA . . .
