Iridium: SpaceX’s bigfooting into D2D changes the game for us. We’ll adapt our strategy and we have many cards to play

LA PLATA, Maryland — Iridium Chief Executive Matt Desch sought to persuade investors that the arrival of SpaceX, Apple and perhaps others including Amazon’s Kuiper into the D2D market does not render the company’s own service, Iridium NTN Direct, irrelevant but will force a pivot in strategy.

In an Oct 23 investor call on Iridiums Q3 financials, which did not diverge materially from the company’s forecast, Desch said Iridium will maintain its quarterly dividend but cease its share-buyback program to conserve cash . . .
