Can Open Cosmos field a broadband constellation to meet 2026 and 2028 ITU deadlines? Liechtenstein regulator says yes

LA PLATA, Maryland — UK- and Spain-based Open Cosmos on Jan. 22 successfully launched two small Ka-band satellites just before expiration of their operating license and now will begin deploying its own constellation of up to 200 satellites for a global broadband network.

Open Cosmos is the third licensee awarded the frequencies by Liechtenstein’s Office for Communications (AK), which revoked the license from Chinese owners in February 2023 and awarded them to Rivada Space Networks.
