MOUNTAIN VIEW, California — Startup optical space-to-ground station manufacturer Cailabs of France won a breakthrough contract to provide a network of stations to U.S.-based teleport operator U.S. Electrodynamics Inc. (USEI) for use by USEI’s commercial and government customers.
The contract, apparently the first to deploy optical ground stations (OGS) as a global commercial service, includes an undisclosed number of terminals at existing USEI teleports geographically spaced to accommodate the difficulty of optical signals in penetrating clouds.
