LA PLATA, Maryland — The SAR satellite production joint venture Rheinmetall Iceye Space Solutions GmbH, created with a 40-satellite order from the German military, has begun production at its Neuss, Germany, site, the two companies announced Oct. 6.
The facility is designed to produce 20 satellites per year to provide satellites using Iceye intellectual property that Germany’s military will commission and control.
The satellites are being built as part of the German military’s SPOCK-1 constellation — or SAR Space System for persistent Operational Tracking . . .
