US EU ambassador: European preference rules and EU Space Act could undermine trans-Atlantic military space cooperation

LA PLATA, Maryland — The U.S. ambassador to the European Union warned that EU efforts limiting non-EU content for military programs and requiring that program design authority be in Europe could weaken European security by valuing geographic location over product quality.

Ambassador Andrew Puzder specifically mentioned the EU SAFE (Security Action for Europe) and EDIP (European Defence Industry Program) measures as well as the proposed EU Space Act, which he said could burden US and EU space system providers while leaving Chinese operators untouched . . .
