LA PLATA, Maryland — High-ranking local elected officials from the Toulouse region of France, where some 15,000 space-sector jobs are located — nearly a quarter of space-industry employment in Europe — endorsed the proposed merger of the space divisions of Airbus, Thales and Leonardo.
The merger is now under review by the European Commission’s DG-COMP competition authority and is expected to be approved, possible with conditions relating to Europe’s supply chain, by mid-2027.
