CUNCY-LES-VARZY, France — Hanwha Systems’s investment of $300 million for an 8.8% stake in the OneWeb global broadband satellite constellation is further proof that the South Korean company is serious about securing a place in the emerging LEO landscape.

The investment values OneWeb at $3.41 billion, compared to a $2.3 billion valuation in April when satellite fleet operator Eutelsat invested $550 million and a $1.2-billion valuation when OneWeb exited Chapter 11 bankruptcy in November 2020.
