GSMA, UK’s Ofcom, GSOA and Tanzanian regulator on ITU proposal to expand satellite D2D spectrum

LA PLATA, Maryland — The head of Britain’s telecoms international spetrum policy office and the chief regulatory officer of the GSMA terrestrial mobile communications association said they were optimistic that more terrestrial mobile spectrum would be opened to satellite direct-to-device services at the next World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-27).

They agreed that the idea remains controversial in many nations, especially those that share borders with multiple other nations, each of which has its own terrestrial mobile licensing regime.
