EU compensates for tight defense, space budgets by promoting dual-use tech, begins foreign investment screening

PARIS — European Commission officials said multiple Commission-financed programs will reinforce the dual-use aspect of space technology and further blur the distinction between “defense” and civil  space budget lines.

European industry officials said they were optimistic about the Commission’s plans but concerned that, as in the past, the budgets will be distributed in small amounts to dozens of programs.
