149-nation ITSO, with sole paymaster Intelsat cutting funds, sets June meeting to assess wind-down scenario

PARIS — The International Telecommunications Satellite Organization (ITSO) has scheduled what may be the final meeting of its 149 member governments in June following a long and bitter battle with Intelsat over future ITSO funding.

ITSO Director-General and CEO Patrick Masambu on Nov. 30 asked the organization’s members to assemble June 16-18 in Washington, D.C., for a meeting to determine whether ITSO disbands or somehow continues in a much-reduced format.

Intelsat, which in May entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings, for months . . .
