Yahsat and EchoStar/Hughes report rough going in their broadband JVs in Brazil, Middle East and Africa

LA PLATA, Maryland — Satellite fleet operators Yahsat and its broadband partner, Hughes Network Systems, reported continued sizable losses on their two joint ventures providing Ka-band broadband to businesses and consumers in Brazil, the Middle East, Africa and South West Asia.

Broadband Connectivity Solutions Ltd (BCS), formed in 2018, is 80% owned by United Arab Emirates-based Yahsat and 20% by Hughes, part of EchoStar Corp. It provides service in the Middle East, Africa and West Asia. Yahsat is reworking its offering in the region . . .
