What will Red Electrica’s telecoms business do with Hispasat’s satellite fleet?

PARIS — Spanish electricity and telecommunications transmissions provider Red Electrica Corp.’s long-awaited agreement with Abertis to acquire satellite fleet operator Hispasat may settle open financial issues but does not answer the strategic question for Hispasat and its presumed new owner.

Red Electrica owns Spain’s second-largest fiber optical network, part of a Red Electrica telecoms business that generates around 130 million euros of annual revenue.
