Viasat & Israel, rebuffed by ITU in October, renew case for in-service-deadline extension for Viasat-3 EMEA

PARIS — Viasat Inc. and is sponsoring government, Israel, have submitted supplemental details on behalf of their request that the deadline to place the Viasat-3/EMEA satellite into orbit be extended by 15 months, to Aug. 31, 2023.

Israel’s initial deadline-extension request to the Radio Regulations Bureau (RRB) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in October 2021 was not accepted. The RRB asked for supplemental details to justify allowing the extension on the basis of a force majeure argument . . .
