MOUNTAIN VIEW, California — Satellite broadband hardware and service provider Viasat Inc. said a narrowband direct-to-device business using Inmarsat’s L-band spectrum from geostationary orbit is just as viable as a low-orbit constellation being proposed by SpaceX/T-Mobile, Globalstar/Apple, Iridium/Qualcomm, Lynk Global and AST SpaceMobile.

California-based Viasat’s access to L-band spectrum would be a principal asset in its intended purchase of mobile satellite services provider Inmarsat of London.
