SES-Luxembourg GovSat milsatcom joint venture now profitable, says PPP model has proved its value to NATO partners

WASHINGTON— The SES-Luxembourg government joint venture in military satcom capacity sales, GovSat, has doubled its traffic over the past year and is now profitable, GovSat Chief Executive Patric Biewer said.

The GovSat-1 satellite, stationed in geostationary orbit at 21.5 degrees east, is GovSat’s principal asset and has been in service since March 2018. SES and Luxembourg each contributed 50 million euros ($53.2 million at current exchange rates) into the venture, and SES took out a 125-million-euro loan to finance the satellite’s construction and . . .
