PARIS — Satellite fleet operator Telesat and satellite ground hardware and services provider Gilat will test Gilat’s modem on Telesat’s Phase-1 LEO demonstration satellite using funds provided by the Canada-Israel Industrial Research and Development Foundation (CIIRDF), the companies announced July 9.
The agreement apparently is not a confirmation that Gilat Satellite Networks will be a prime provider of modems for Telesat’s global constellation of low-orbiting satellites, which is still in the design phase and has announced no major financial backers.
