EchoStar/Hughes reports 12% broadband sub growth in LatAm; broadband and S-band satellites face delays

PARIS —  Satellite broadband hardware and service provider EchoStar Corp.’s Hughes Network Systems reported a slight increase in U.S. subscribers for the three months ending March 31 and a double-digit increase in Central and South America.

Hughes said U.S. subscribers, which have been about static in the past two years as Hughes awaits the arrival of new satellite capacity, totaled 1.25 million, up 2.6% from a year ago.
