Canada makes 2nd billion-dollar investment in Telesat Lightspeed, now financed at $3.2B. Waiting on Bpi France, EDC

CUNCY-LES-VARZY, France — The government of Canada announced a second billion-dollar commitment to the Telesat Lightspeed satellite broadband constellation, bringing Telesat’s total Lightspeed funding to about $3.2 billion.

The remaining $1.8 billion in planned Lightspeed capex is expected to come from the French export credit agency, Bpi France, and its Canadian counterpart, Export Development Canada (EDC).
