Airbus, Thales space divisions report continued growth in Q1; satellite telecom crises look to be over and done

LA PLATA, Maryland — The space divisions of Airbus and Thales Group reported increased revenue for the three months ending March 31, a year ahead of their proposed merger, with Italy’s Leonardo, to create a large European space prime contractor.

The companies have begun negotiations with their employee groups and have yet to enter detailed talks with the European Union’s Directorate-General for Competition to assess anti-trust implications of the merger, which would combine Europe’s three largest space companies.
