LA PLATA, Maryland — The UK government’s agreement to increase its investment in Eutelsat Group to maintain its 10.89% equity share is a modest victory for France’s attempt to attract new shareholders but leaves unanswered the questions surrounding Britain’s military space strategy.
While France’s recent decision to increase its Eutelsat Group ownership is clearly focused on Eutelsat’s role in the European Commission’s future Iris2 secure MEO- and LEO-orbit constellation, Britain’s new investment makes no mention of Iris2.
