To meet FCC deadline, Intelsat & SES must deploy 11 satellites over six launches, all on time. How likely is that?

PARIS — Satellite fleet operators Intelsat and SES disclosed different strategies and costs for their plans to repack their U.S. C-band customers into 200 MHz of spectrum by Dec. 5, 2023.

The two companies plan a total of 13 satellites, 11 of them to be launched, to meet what by historical industry standards are extremely aggressive deadlines imposed by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The companies must relocate, by Dec. 5, 2021, their commercial services out of the bottom 180 MHz of the 300 . . .
