WASHINGTON — Europe’s Arianespace launch service provider's challenge between 2020 and 2024 was performing the inaugural flight of the new Ariane 6 heavy-lift rocket. That flight occurred in July 2024.
In 2025, the task was to conduct several successful flights of the higher Ariane 62 version, to different orbits. This was done with flights in March, August, November and December.
This year? Demonstrate the capability of the heavier Arena 64 rocket — the February launch of 32 Amazon Leo satellites did that — and accelerate the vehicle . . .
