Thai ministry starts new dispute with Thaicom as 30-year concession enters final months

PARIS — Satellite fleet operator Thaicom, already facing the loss of its government satellite and orbital-slot concession late this year, has entered arbitration for yet another dispute with the Thai Ministry of Digital Economy and Society.

Arbitration on whether the Thaicom 7 and Thaicom 8 satellites are part fo the government concession have been under way for months. Thaicom says they are not part of the concession agreement.

Now the ministry has claimed that Thaicom must replace the Thaicom 5 satellite, deorbited in February 2020 . . .
