Oman government, still struggling to get a placeholder satellite to 73.5 degrees east, again rebuffed by ITU

LA PLATA, Maryland — The Omani government’s effort to win international regulators’ approval for a further extension of the deadline to bring into use frequencies for its planned Airbus-built satellite at 73.5 degrees east came up short once again on March 27.

Meeting in Geneva March 23-27, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Radio Regulations Board (RRB), presented with new complications from Omani operator Space Communication Technologies SPC (SCT), asked Oman to provide a fuller explanation for the RRB’s July meeting.
