BRUSSELS — Canadian satellite prime contractor MDA Space is purchasing US satellite component builder Blue Canyon Technologies from RTX for $620 million, which is 3.9x Blue Canyon’s forecasted 2026 revenue and 20x its expected EBITDA.
The all-cash transaction gives RTX a 48% return on its 2020 acquisition of Blue Canyon and gives MDA a foothold in the US defense and security market, where it hopes eventually to sell full satellites designed by MDA but manufactured in Blue Canyon’s Colorado factories.
