Canada’s MDA retrenches in telecoms, awaits DigitalGlobe

MDA Chief Executive Howard Lance said the company is reducing staff at Palo Alto, California-based SSL in the face of a continued downturn in the market for commercial geostationary-orbit telecommunications satellites. He nonetheless said he expects several big orders for SSL later this year.
