Thaicom says Astranis-built Thaicom 9 launch delayed to March 2027 following component anomaly affecting 5 satellites

TUPPER LAKE, NY — Thailand’s Thaicom satellite fleet operator said its Thaicom 9 satellite, which had been scheduled for launch this year, has been delayed to March 2027 following a power system anomaly discovered on one of the four other Astranis Space Technologies micro-GEO satellites that were sharing a SpaceX Falcon 9 launch.

Thaicom had been operating under an International Telecommunication Union (ITU) deadline of September 2026 to begin operating Thaicom 9, a date that had seemed tenable until the last March, when the power issue . . .
