Stratospheric broadband airship designer Avealto works to close financing, says ITU gave HAPS unusable spectrum

PARIS — Avealto Ltd., which since 2013 has been developing a stratospheric airship for a business to wholesale connectivity to wireless network operators, said it is has yet to complete a $15-million financing round started in November but has enough cash for its current needs.

U.K.-based Avealto recently quit the HAPSAlliance because of what Avealto Chief Executive Walt Anderson said were differences of opinion on how to develop the market.
