Satellite lasercom startup Mynaric raises $62.4M from new, existing investors to fund U.S. expansion

PARIS — Startup satellite laser communications terminal manufacturer Mynaric AG of Germany raised 52.8 million euros ($62.4 million) in gross proceeds from existing shareholders and institutional investors, notably to expand its operations in the United States, where the U.S. military has been Mynaric’s biggest early customer.

For Mynaric, the near-term growth is being led by government, and specifically military, customers and not the long-promised commercial constellations of low-orbiting broadband satellites.
