Satellite lasercom builders Tesat, Thales Alenia Space Switzerland to Euro governments: R&D must accelerate

NOORDWIJK, Netherlands — The two companies that have sold more satellite optical communications terminals than anyone else in the global market asked European governments not to declare victory and cease investment in future ground- and satellite-based technologies.

The government backing that created today’s success, they said, is just as necessary to maintain Europe’s lead in this growing niche market.

Tesat Spacecom of Germany and Thales Alenia Space Switzerland have both posted commercial wins in the past 12 months that suggest they are world . . .
