LA PLATA, Maryland — Luxembourg, which has long pushed above its weight in commercial satellite systems by being home to, and a major shareholder in, fleet operator SES, is raising its military space profile in GEO and MEO orbit in association with the 32-nation NATO alliance.
The Luxembourg government created the GovSat joint venture with SES 10 years ago and the GovSat 1 satellite was built to provide military bandwidth to Luxembourg and allied nations. The satellite was launched in 2018.
