Hong Kong-based APT Satellite increased revenue, profit for 2021, outlines diversification strategy

PARIS — Hong Kong-based satellite fleet operator APT Satellite Holdings Ltd. reported increased revenue and profit for 2021 but said the Asia-Pacific market remains as difficult as ever, with no letup in sight for transponder-lease prices.

The company operates five satellites at five orbital slots, including the Apstar 5C co-owned with Telesat, and is wading into the high-throughput satellite (HTS) business with the Chinese government through a joint venture, APT Mobile, which owns the Apstar 6D satellite, operating at 134 degrees east.
