Globalstar wants more time to begin making payments on MDA vendor-financed satellite contract

LA PLATA, Maryland — Mobile satellite services provider Globalstar Inc. is seeking to extend the deadline by which it is scheduled to begin repaying Canada’s MDA Corp. for costs MDA has incurred building 17 Globalstar satellites.

Globalstar in February ordered the satellites from MDA Corp., which in turn contracted with Rocket Lab to build the satellite platforms, as part of a broad agreement with an unnamed “large, global customer” interested in using the Globalstar-licensed Band 53/n53.
