German satellite lasercom providers on competing teams for U.S. Space Development Agency LEO constellation contracts

PARIS — Two German builders of satellite laser communications terminals appear to have been selected by the competing teams building the U.S. Space Development Agency’s initial tranche of low-orbiting communications satellites.

Mynaric AG of Munich and the Airbus Defence and Space-owned Tesat Spacecom of Backnang look to have been selected by York Space Systems and Lockheed Martin, respectively, to provide laser com terminals for up to 10 satellites each. The York contract also appears to include U.S . . .
