Geospatial imagery startup Prométhée selects Hemeria to build 20-satellite constellation with novel inter-satellite relay

PARIS— Geospatial satellite imagery constellation startup Prométhée has contracted with small-satellite builder Hemeria to build one demonstration satellite and 20 operational spacecraft for Prométhée’s Japetus constellation of high-revisit observation satellites.

Japetus will feature a novel tip-and-cue technique in which ground sensors send narrowband information to the French Kineis constellation of commercial IoT satellites, orbiting at 650 kilometers, and then on to 450-kilometer-orbit Japetus for on-board analysis and possible image tasking.
