France’s Le Gall: EU-ESA friction did not cause Galileo outage; France is still top ESA investor, ahead of Germany

PARIS — The president of the French space agency, CNES, said the lack of coordination between the European Space Agency (ESA) and the European Commission is being corrected and in any event did not cause July’s week-long outage of the Galileo positioning, navigation and timing network.

Jean-Yves Le Gall, who in addition to heading CNES is also chairman of ESA’s ruling council and chairman of the board of the European GNSS Agency (GSA), declined to detail the reasons for the Galileo failure . . .
