US Defense Department to allies: We’re working to reduce classification procedures that hamper space cooperation

WASHINGTON — A senior U.S. Defense Department official said the recent expansion of the seven-nation Combined Space Operation Initiative, CSPO, to 10 nations is an example of the seriousness of the U.S. effort to bring allies into a meaningful military space partnership.

Dr. John Plumb, first assistant secretary of defense for space policy, did not minimize the difficulty of changing U.S. military and intelligence agency habits when it comes to not sharing information, even with close allies.
