UK to award $127M in R&D grants for LEO connectivity technologies including satellite laser links, user terminals

LA PLATA, Maryland — The UK government confirmed it would spend up to 100 million British pounds ($127 million) in grants, to be co-financed by industry, to stimulate a technology base for low-orbit satellite constellations.

The technologies of interest are advanced payloads with on-board processing, optical satellite links for satellite-to-satellite and satellite-to-ground applications, and user terminals.
