LA PLATA, Maryland — Mobile satellite services provider Iridium Communications’ purchase of satellite timing/positioning service provider Satelles Inc. will test its credentials in the coming weeks in a competition of alternative-PNT providers organized by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DoT).

DoT has set a March 25 deadline for responses to its Operationally Ready Complementary PNT Services request for proposals.

Given how Iridium and Satelles described the Satelles product in March 4 briefings, the DoT competition would appear to be . . .
