Telcos Orange, Deutsche Telekom: We’ll only buy EU Iris2 constellation capacity if it’s competitive

BRUSSELS — Orange and Deutsche Telekom, two large telcos that have been part of the industrial team developing Europe’s Iris2 multi-orbit secure communications constellation, warned that the system must approximate the performance of SpaceX Starlink or it will not be a commercial success, even among European telcos.

Both companies said competitive pressures in Europe will force them to select the best value for money, regardless of its national origin.
