Omnispace raises $60M, round led by Fortress Investment Group; 1st 2 satellites delayed to 2022

PARIS — Startup satellite/terrestrial S-band mobile satellite network operator Omnispace raised $60 million in new equity to demonstrate 5G connectivity in space starting in 2022.

U.S.-based Omnispace, which in three earlier funding rounds had raised $45-$50 million, said a new investor, Fortress Investment Group, led the most recent round, joined by previous Omnispace backers Columbia Capital, Greenspring Associates, TDF Ventures and Telcom Ventures.
