Norwegian government says Space Norway’s progress is likely to trigger equity investment

PARIS — The Norwegian government, sensing that the dual commercial/military Space Norway project is nearing its financial milestone, said it has opened negotiations with Britain, Canada, France, Germany and the United States on joint use of the highly elliptical orbit (HEO) satellite communications system.

Norwegian Trade, Industry and Fisheries Minister Torbjorn Roe Isaksen said the government, which promised some $101 million in equity funding for Space Norway in mid-2018, believes that Space Norway is likely to sign up sufficient support to assure project go-ahead.
