Nokia, BCG say terrestrial 5G, satellite operators increasingly see mutual interests beyond spectrum battles

PARIS — Terrestrial mobile network operators (MNOs) should be more willing to work with satellite operators in the wake of satellite technology’s integration into 5G technical standards and telcos’ success in accessing C-band spectrum, according to Nokia and the Boston Consulting Group.

The proof will need to wait for the meeting of international wireless spectrum regulators in late 2023 at the World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-23) and in the many regional preparatory meetings to occur in the next year.
