Korean military selects Thales Alenia Space Italy for 4 radar satellites

MARSEILLE, France — The Korean military has selected Thales Alenia Space- Italy to build, with Korean input, four high-resolution radar satellites, debuting a line of mid-size spacecraft as Thales Alenia Space positions itself for what’s expected to be a growing market for radar imaging systems.

The contract, with Korea Aerospace Industries Ltd. (KAI) and Hanwha Systems Corp., is valued at around 250 million euros ($284 million) and includes technology transfer from the Franco-Italian Thales Alenia Space to Korea. The satellites will be integrated in Korea.
