Iridium: IoT now accounts for 69% of our subscriptions, and we’re just getting started

PARIS — Mobile satellite services provider Iridium Communications reported a double-digit increase in IoT subscribers and IoT revenue in 2019 despite a drop in average monthly per-subscriber payments given the influx of personal communications subscriptions, which pay lower fees.

Once an afterthought in Iridium’s financials, commercial IoT generated $96.4 million in 2019 revenue, up 13.3% from the previous year. IoT subscriber count was 802,000 as of Dec. 31, up 24% from a year ago. IoT subscribers are now 69% of Iridium’s commercial subscription base, up . . .
