In bid to lead next-gen air-traffic management, Spain OKs initial investment in Enaire-Indra satellite constellation

PARIS — Spanish air navigation services provider Enaire and Spain’s Indra technology services provider are forming a partnership to launch more than 200 small satellites to provide both ADS-B aircraft position monitoring and a VHF radio link between controllers and aircraft pilots.

The Spanish government’s Council of Ministers on May 18 approved the investment, by Enaire, in shares in the public-private partnership with Indra, called Startical.
