French New Space standout Hemeria says GEO-orbit guard-dog satellites’ launch unlikely before 2028

PARIS — Two small satellites designed to act as guard dogs stationed around larger French military telecommunications satellites in geostationary orbit are unlikely to be launched before 2028, four or five years later than initially planned, because of the complexity of requirements from both the French space agency, CNES, and the French Defense Ministry, prime contractor Hemeria said.

Another factor in the delay is that the French government insisted that Yoda must be launched on an Ariane 6 rocket, which after accumulating operational delays now has a full manifest until . . .
